In an effort to provide our kids a place to do their homework and read,  Ms. Heather will be able to keep the library open after school.  The homework club still needs volunteers, however, to help the children who come to the library. This is a very rewarding job - for many children, it is their best opportunity to get their homework done, and they are very happy to have a comfortable place to do it.  In order to keep it a welcoming place for all grade levels, the laptops will not be allowed in the library after school. There will also be limits on games and other activities, in order to maintain a studious atmosphere.

As with classroom volunteers, you need to have an updated TB test on file.  Ms. Heather will conduct a short training session after school on Monday, October 12 for those who are interested in participating. 

We hope to create a pool of volunteers for each day of the week so we can have a rotating shift - even if you can't commit to a particular day every single week, we can still use you. You could also team up with another parent friend to cover a particular day, to give yourself more flexibility. The more people we have involved, the easier it will be to keep the library open after school on an on-going basis, and that will make the children of Ivanhoe very, very happy.  On Tuesdays, although there maybe an early dismissal, volunteers will show up at 2:34 pm for their shift.
